We met with seafarer ‘Creed’ last week onboard a lumber ship. His actual name is Chrydzyl. He was on his first contract and was going home after 11 months. When asked if he needed anything (we implied Bible, literature, etc.) he quickly responded with a smile, “I have a Bible.” Which led us to conversation about faith, churches, life and then to his impending proposal to his girlfriend when he arrives home. We celebrated his excitement with him. Sometimes we are present to cheer and to reinforce a faith the seafarer has brought onboard. Other times we are looking to help them become disciples of Jesus Christ or to renew and strengthen their faith. I am grateful someone has already helped Creed to know Jesus. By our conversation he may be one who can enthusiastically win others to Christ while onboard.
Hebrews 3:13 “But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.”
