God is doing big things through Anchor House, and we want you to be a part of it. We have tons of ways that you can join the community here at Anchor House.
1. Be a Friend.
Get to know the people at the SeaPort. Ships come from over ten different nations, so there is always someone interesting to get to know. With the vast majority of the seafarers being men, It is an excellent opportunity for the guys. Be a brother to someone from a different continent - this is International Mission done locally.
2. Be a Help.
We need members who are eager to get involved in the store or in the office through acts of service. Assist with food prep, serving the noon meal, and/or overseeing the small store providing hospitality to our seafarers and longshoreman. We need volunteers who are willing to fold and sort newsletters. Timewise, help in the kitchen would be once per week from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. or from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and help with the newsletter would be during the last week of each month. Help Keep the House in order at Anchor House.
3. Be a Driver.
We have the van; we need your willingness. Operate the Anchor House Van to transport seafarers and engage in conversation as you feel led. This role can be significant for relationship building or just an act of service. A clean driving record (no CDL needed) is required, and you must be under 80. The schedule is flexible for adults only.
4. Be an Influence.
Calling all Bible teachers and Worship Leaders! We need people to help lead us in learning and in loving Christ. On the docks and in the ships, there are Discipleship opportunities galore at Anchor House. Pastors, lay leaders, and worship leaders are invited to contact us and come aboard and share God’s message. Simply put, we need you to get on the ships and share Gods word.
